Entertainment At Embudo Station

"Entertainment Rises At Embudo Station"

by Tempo staff on www.taosnews.com Entertainment Section, Monday May 18, 2009

http://www.taosnews.com/articles/2009/05/18/entertainment/doc4a114397b614d404459954.txt

When the Rio Grande is high it’s a perfect time to head on down to Embudo Station for fine food and entertainment. Friday (May 22), 5-8:30 p.m., you can catch Grammy Award winning master guitarist and producer Larry Mitchell in performance. Mitchell has toured with Tracey Chapman, Bootsie Collins, Joy Harjo and Robert Mirabal (check out larrymitchell.com for more).

Then, on Saturday (May 23), Chris Abeyta and Don Lovato will be playing righteous Latin sounds from 5-8:30 p.m.

On Sunday (May 24), the fun starts at noon with Gerry Carthy from the West Coast of Ireland. McCarthy plays a variety of instruments including banjo, guitar, tenor guitar, tin whistle, saxophone, fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki and does vocals too. “If your favorite uncle were a virtuoso musician, a true gentleman and a wickedly funny story teller, his name would be Gerry Carthy,” a press release states.

Then, at 5 p.m., award winning musicians and songwriters Busy McCarroll and the Ambassadors of Pleasure take the stage with special guest star Chris (Spit) Sherland on guitar.

Embudo Station is located 25 miles south of Taos on State Road 68. For reservations, call (505) 852-4707 or visit www.embudostation.com.

HOPPER ARTIST DINNER ALREADY SOLD OUT!

posted on 2009-04-30 13:40:00 by Admin

Hopper Artist Dinner Already Sold Out!

From the Staff Report on Tempo Magazine's pg. 24 "Hopper Show Sparks Reunion" article.

According to this week's Taos News' Tempo Magazine (April 30 - May 6, 2009), the Artist Reunion Dinner party at Antonio's Taste of Mexico (the new location on Dona Luz Lane) is already sold out!  The staff report article tells how the Harwood Museum chose the tasty spot as its May 3rd fund raising party venue.

Billed as the 40th anniversary of comraderie and art of some of Taos's contemporary art movement, the party will celebrate the "Hopper at the Harwood" exhibition.  Debuting on Friday, May 8th at the Harwood, we'll catch some of the best works by Larry Bell, Ron Cooper, Ronald Davis, Ken Price, Robert Dean Stockwell and Dennis Hopper himself.

According to the article and the Harwood staff, many guests from New York and Los Angeles are flying in for the event that will kick off the exhibition.  Bluegrass banjoist Paul Elwood and electro-cellist Michael Kott will join in and fill the evening with progressive experimental sounds.

Sponsors for the event are Antonio's Taste of Mexico at 122 Dona Luz (behind the main square of the Taos Plaza), Eight Modern gallery in Santa Fe and the Heritage Trust Company of New Mexico.  For more information, read this week's Tempo Magazine or contact the Harwood at 575-758-9138 or on the web at www.harwoodmuseum.org.

From Tempo Magazine/The Taos News, April 23 - 29, 2009 - pg. 12 "Taste of Taos" by Leslie Pedlar

For some of the best news in local dining, check out Tempo Magazine's Taste of Taos article.  Submitted weekly by Leslie Pedlar, this week's news features how to eat like a king without paying the hefty price.  Local restaurants currently offer the best "deals for the meals" that I've personally seen this year.

Leslie points out another great online site to make your dining experience easier on your pocketbook: www.999dine.com.  Choose "Taos" and find amazing offers like "pay $10 for a $25 Dining Certificate" for unforgetable Taos dining establishments such as Chef Damon's, Graham's Grille, Gutiz, Lambert's, Antonio's, Sabroso, The Old Blinking Light and Relleno's Cafe.

To your total enjoyment,
