Winter Events
Winter is quite possibly the most magical seasons in Santa Fe and Taos. With shimmering snowflakes, the crisp cold air, and the smell of pinon, there is much to do outdoors and indoors.
Skiing
Ski Santa Fe
This popular winter destination is a mere 16 miles from the Plaza. The ski base is at a 10,350 feet making it one of the highest ski elevations in the continental United States. The views from the summit at 12,705 feet are breathtaking from almost every one of the 67 runs. With seven lifts and trails for skiers and snowboarders of all levels, the whole family can enjoy a day at Ski Santa Fe. Lifts operate from 9 am to 4 pm daily.
Taos Ski Valley
About an hour north of Santa Fe, is one of the world's finest mountains for alpine skiing. Enjoy steep runs and jaw dropping vistas from the 110 trails. Elevation at Kachina peak reaches a staggering 12,481 feet while the base elevation is at 9,207 feet.
Downtown Santa Fe
Canyon Road Walk
Canyon Road is gallery alley and also one of the oldest streets in Santa Fe. In winter the adobe walls and street corners are lined with little luminaries, or locally known as farolitos. The new tradition of the Canyon Road Christmas Eve Walk started a few years ago as locals and visitors gathered to celebrate the holiday season strolling down the candle lit street. Galleries open and invite guests in for warm drinks and Christmas caroling.
*And don't forget to check out Santa Fe's Spanish Market in December*
